As part of Solon Community Living’s first annual appeal, attendees of a Jan. 5 fundraiser at Landerhaven will have the chance to meet and talk baseball with Tom Hamilton, the voice of the Cleveland Guardians.

Sadly, when looking back on 2023 in Solon, many thoughts go to those who were lost. The 11-year-old son of a city councilman, two brothers, a popular teacher, a father/coach, and a man tragically attacked by a family member passed away this year.

Dressed in a fluorescent construction work- er’s safety vest, Ara Bagdasarian surveyed the progress at the Solon Community Living (SCL) site, a 3.65 acre site off Clearwater Court in Solon. He can hardly contain his enthusiasm about the progress made on the community thus far, one that will be home to 14 adults with disabilities and their caregivers. The project is on track, he said recently, with eight residents expected to move in next May.

An eight-year journey took a giant step forward as Solon Community Living (SCL) held its groundbreaking ceremony on June 7, with founders Ara and Leslie Bagdasarian, who started the organization in an effort to find care for their two adult children with disabilities, moving the dirt to mark the start of building a pocket community in Solon that will house their adult children and twelve others.

The Markowitz family of Solon is watching with anticipation the construction of Solon Community Living (SCL), an innovative pocket community for adults with disabilities which broke ground last week.

SOLON, Ohio -- Ara Bagdasarian became emotional at times as he spoke to the crowd of more than 200 people that attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Solon Community Living project Wednesday (June 7).

Solon Community Living, a nonprofit organization planning to create a community-accessible, sustainable housing option for adults with developmental disabilities along Clearwater Court in Solon, plans to break ground in 2023 after receiving final building plan approval from Solon City Council Oct. 17.
